Case studies involving Buried Roots
Mr GD from Swansea (West Wales). Mr D was a self-referral and not aware of the buried canine in his upper left jaw. He came to see us following the breakage of his upper right first premolar, having read about implants on our website. When we showed him the various problems revealed by the 2D OPT image, he wondered if the canine tooth could be by-passed to allow the placement of two implants to replace both failing pre-molars and the buried canine.
The 3D image clearly demonstrated that this was not possible, but that we would be able to remove this tooth from the buccal aspect and immediately place and load (out of occlusion) two implants with a three-tooth bridge. The other option was an immediate partial denture.
