Maxillary Sinus Case Study

012Mr NM from Crickhowelll (Powys). The 2D OPT image for Mr M helped us realise the extent of the maxillary sinuses and the resulting lack of bone height in the molar regions.  To avoid sinus augmentation we decided to place six implants and angle the distal implants so that they would emerge from the alveolus far enough back to support a molar unit.

However the cross-sectional image of the 25 region, revealed that the sinus dipped significantly between the buccal and lingual plates in this region, and so further measurements were made from the scan to allow the placement of the most distal implant at an acute angle, but wholly within bone.
