Inferior Dental Nerve - Potential Nerve Damage 3

2D & 3D scan photos 024Mrs JF of Caldicot (Gwent).  Following the restoration of her upper arch, Mrs F was keen to explore the possibility of replacing her missing lower teeth.  The 2D DPT image was not encouraging for the placement of implants.

Cross-sectional imaging allowed us the possibility of either sacrificcing the premolars (which had lost 50% of bone support) and angling large implants forward of the mental foramena, or the use of multiple short (5mm) implants to support bridgework.  Given the poor prognosis of the upper left molar, the shortened dental upper arch and the failing lower premolars, the patients went for the first option.
