Immediate Replacement Case Study

022Mrs LS from Abergavenny (Monmouthshire).  With a two dimensional image, there is no way of knowing whether the buccal roots of this molar tooth are seperate from the platal root.  It is therefore impossible to guage whether this will be a simple or complex extraction, whether one should section the roots, or accept that the buccal plate may come away with a forceps extraction.  It is also impossible to predict whether an implant can be immediately placved following the extraction.

From the 3D image we can see that the tooth has conical roots, and whilst there is no bone height available beyond the socket, primary stability could be gained from engaging the walles of the socket with an appropriately shaped and sized implant.
